This season offers some changes in competitive levels for our 12U-High School players. To improve the competitive experience for our players, ABBSB has decided to participate in two different Fastpitch leagues, offering two options for competition levels.
12U and above ages
Tier 1 Teams will participate in the Big West Fastpitch League. We anticipate that this will offer better competition, challenging our teams more appropriately and feel this will offer better skill development in the long run. We DO NOT anticipate that this will create more travel for our families, as there are many local towns that are part of this league.
Tier 2 Teams will continue to participate in the Crow River Fastpitch League. We feel that Crow River will continue to offer the appropriate level of competition for that skill level, which will be most appropriate for their skill development and facilitate enjoyment of the game.
10U
10U Teams will continue to participate in the Crow River Fastpitch League. There are not competitive tiers at his level, and all teams will be divided equally after the first two weeks of practice.
Community Education is offering softball camps this summer, designed to further develop skills in hitting and pitching. They have brought in a coach with impressive credentials, Britt Stroup. Britt was a Pitcher for the University of Minnesota during her college career. She then went on to be the Varsity Head Coach at Wayzata and Eden Prairie High Schools.
This program is not financially sponsored by ABBSBA, but we have collaborated to involve Britt in the Annandale Softball program and fully support bringing these camps to our youth.
